Title: Five Spooled Printers with Advanced NetWare/86 and /286
Version 2.0
Begining with Advanced NetWare/86 and Advanced NetWare/286
version 2.0, five spooled printers will be supported. Up to 2 serial
and 3 parallel printers can be used. The serial port assignments are
COM1 and COM2. The parallel port assignments are LPT1, LPT2 and
LPT3. Parallel port LPT3 is only available in machines using a true
monochrome card. The parallel port address for LPT3 is not available
when a color card using color or a color card emulating monochrome
is being used.
The five printer configuration was tested in an enhanced IBM-PC/AT
using the following cards with serial and parallel ports:
- an AST Advantage! card (with both serial/parallel ports)
- a monochrome card (with a parallel port)
- a combination parallel/serial port card
On the AST Advantage! card the serial port was set up as
COM1 and the parallel port was set up as LPT2.
On the monochrome card the parallel port was set up as
LPT1.
On the combination parallel/serial card the parallel port
was set up as LPT3 and the serial port was set up as
COM2.
A Techmar Maestro AT board (with serial/parallel ports) was also
successfully tested in place of the AST Advantage! board.
